What is a mineral insulated cable?

The continuous working temperature of mineral insulated cable is 250 °C, and it can continue to supply power for 3 hours at 950 °C-1000 °C, and can work close to the melting point of copper 1083 °C for a short time or extraordinary period. Due to the excellent performance of mineral insulated cable, it is suitable for lines with rated voltage below 1000V.

Uses of mineral insulated cables

Mineral insulated cables are mostly used in important electrical engineering fields, such as dangerous places, important public facilities, personal and property safety places, etc., commonly used in airports, fire fighting, high-rise buildings, libraries, shopping malls, hospitals, etc.; Once installed, the mineral insulated cable can be used forever.

Mineral insulated cable is composed of high conductivity copper conductor, mineral (magnesium oxide) insulation material, seamless copper pipe sleeve, when the cable is used in the occasion of corrosion to copper, the outermost layer adds a layer of anti-corrosion protection outer sheath. Mineral insulated cables have the advantages of fireproof, waterproof, explosion-proof, non-combustible, smoke-free, non-toxic and fire-resistant.

Structure of mineral insulated cable

1. Cable conductor: made of metal copper with high conductivity as the conductor.

2. Insulating layer: using high temperature resistance, non-burning inorganic minerals as insulation material.

3. Isolation layer: made of inorganic minerals.

4. Outer sheath: using low-smoke and non-toxic plastic materials or metal materials, with good anti-corrosion characteristics.
