Introduction to Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is a kind of cable that uses copper sheath to wrap copper conductor core and magnesium oxide powder as inorganic insulating material to separate conductor and sheath. The outermost layer can be selected with appropriate protective sheath as required. Commonly known as MICC or MI cable. There is a similar type of cable that uses metal instead of copper sheath to wrap the core wire and insulation material, called mineral insulated metal sheath cable. Mineral insulated cables operate continuously at a temperature of 250 ℃ and can sustain power supply for 3 hours at temperatures ranging from 950 ℃ to 1000 ℃. They can work close to the melting point of copper at 1083 ℃ for short or extraordinary periods. Due to the excellent performance of mineral insulated cables, they are suitable for circuits with rated voltages below 1000V.
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is a kind of inorganic material cable. The outer layer of the cable is a seamless copper sheath, and between the sheath and the metal wire core is a tightly compacted magnesium oxide insulation layer. Mineral insulated cables are divided into distribution cables, heating cables and heating elements, thermocouple cables and compensation cables, special cables, etc. according to their different purposes.
structure
1. Cable conductor: Made of high conductivity metal copper as the conductor.
2. Insulation layer: High temperature resistant and non combustible inorganic minerals are used as insulation materials.
3. Isolation layer: Made of inorganic mineral materials.
4. Outer protective layer: Made of low smoke non-toxic plastic or metal materials, with good anti-corrosion properties.
Structural Principles
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable, also known as magnesium oxide cable or fireproof cable, is composed of mineral material magnesium oxide and metal material copper. Magnesium oxide insulation material is used to tightly adhere to seamless copper sheaths, forming a tight whole with the metal core and sheath.
Generally speaking, the melting point of magnesium oxide insulation materials is as high as 2800 ℃, and the melting point of copper is 1083 ℃. As long as these two temperatures are not reached, there will be no significant change in the insulation performance of magnesium oxide insulation materials, and the cable can continue to operate.
Performance characteristics
(1) Fire resistance: Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable not only meets the 950 ° C and 180 min fire resistance time specified in the product standard, but also meets the requirements of the national standard. It is also fully proved by many domestic and foreign fire protection sites that only Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is still intact after a fire.
(2) High temperature resistance: Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable can be used for a long time at 250 ℃, and its service life can reach 250 years. It will not cause and spread fire, so it is a good product.
(3) Corrosion resistance and mechanical damage resistance: Copper has excellent corrosion resistance and in most cases does not require additional protective measures; Unless used in special circumstances, a layer of plastic sheath can be added to the cable. Due to the strength and toughness of the copper sheath of the cable, the interior of the cable will not change when subjected to bending, etc.
(4) Smokeless: In case of fire, Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable will not release any harmful gas and smoke, which is the prerequisite to ensure the smooth evacuation of people under fire conditions, and is an environmental protection cable.
Scope of use
According to the excellent characteristics of Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable, in addition to the specification requirements for the use of Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable in the field of fire equipment, it can also be used in the following fields:
(1) Where the basement needs to pass through the fire zone, the use of Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable distribution can more reflect the advantages of fire cables.
(2) All elevators, roof and landscape lighting electrical equipment in the elevator room of the building shall be distributed with Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable.
(3) Because large stores have distribution channels, it is convenient to lay Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable, so it is a good choice to use Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable as distribution trunk lines.
